Toddlers

12 months - 33 months

Curriculum

Toddlers learn best when they feel secure and are offered plenty of opportunities to play, observe, and explore at their own pace. Each day children will experience a relaxed environment with the opportunity to experience a variety of activities designed to facilitate:

  • Listening and talking, including music, reading, and singing
  • Physical movement and exploration
  • Social awareness
  • Thinking skills
  • Emotional development and self-help skills
  • An awareness of science and nature

These and other activities will provide your toddler with the experiences necessary to encourage a positive sense of autonomy and an eagerness for learning in the preschool years.

The Wonder Years Learning Center has designed a toddler program with these characteristics in mind. Active exploration and involvement with people and objects provide a cornerstone for all of our toddler programs. Caregivers remain nurturing and supportive while encouraging toddlers to explore their environment and to use their imagination and creativity. Basic experiences with sand, water, paint, playdoh, blocks, dramatic play, manipulatives, reading, music, and motor play will be introduced. These and other activities will provide your toddler with the experiences necessary to encourage a positive sense of autonomy and an eagerness for learning in the preschool years.

We have three toddler rooms at The Wonder Years Learning Center. Our Toddler I program is designed for our oldest, mobile babies and our youngest toddlers, age appropriate 12 months through 18 months of age. The staffing has been enhanced to accommodate the developmental needs of this age group, including more one-on-one attention and morning naps when needed. Our Toddler II and Toddler III classrooms are divided into two age groups, middle and older toddlers. Placement in the toddler classrooms is determined by age and the number of children entering the program.
