Curriculum

We provide a balance of structured and unstructured activities throughout the day. Our daily schedule includes time for free play, large group activities, story time, learning centers, outside experiences, and a host of other activities, Our environment encourages independence and an appreciation of multicultural concepts, while offering a range of developmental activities designed to:
  • enhance cognitive skills
  • continue language development and a love of reading
  • foster an appreciation of science and nature
  • encourage self expression through the arts, music, and movement
  • explore basic math concepts through block play and use of manipulatives
  • develop basic social skills and problem-solving
  • practice and enhance gross and fine motor skills
Our preschool program will help children to develop a positive self-concept and to acquire the readiness skills necessary to insure a successful Pre-K experience.

The Wonder Years Learning Center creates environments for preschoolers that invite discovery learning and social interaction. Our experienced staff carefully prepares the environment, and then facilitates learning through individual attention to each child’s needs. Our print-rich environment is designed to inspire a love of reading in children. Hands-on experiences with art, science and nature, manipulatives, movement, construction, dramatic play, and more are provided daily. Multicultural concepts are woven into the daily curriculum to help build a respect and appreciation for the differences and similarities between individuals and groups of peoples. Our preschool program will help children to develop a positive self-concept and to acquire the readiness skills necessary to insure a successful kindergarten experience.

The Wonder Years Learning Center has two preschool programs. Our Preschool I class is especially designed for our youngest preschoolers, age 2.9 years through approximately 3.5 years of age. The staffing has been enhanced to accommodate the developmental needs of this transitional preschool group, including those for more one-on-one attention and toilet training as needed. Our Preschool II class is for children 3.5- 4.4 years of age.
