Curriculum

We provide a balance of structured and unstructured activities throughout the day. Our daily schedule includes time for free play, large group activities, story time, learning centers, outside experiences. and a host of other activities, Our integrated curriculum uses a learning center format. Teachers facilitate learning through the use of activities and projects based upon the needs and interests of the children. We also utilize the state curriculum framework for pre-k children to guide our planning. Our environment encourages independence and an appreciation of multicultural concepts, while offering a range of readiness activities designed to:
  • Enhance language and listening skills
  • Instill a love of reading
  • Promote mathematical concepts
  • Foster an appreciation of science and nature
  • Encourage self expression through the arts, music and movement
  • Develop social skills and problem-solving
  • Practice fine and gross motor skills
  • Facilitate basic computer skills

Our teachers will work with your child individually to encourage a life-long love of learning and sense of competence which will be carried into the elementary school years and beyond!

The Wonder Years Learning Center has developed a program especially for the needs of this age group. While continuing our philosophy of learning through discovery and play, this program provides children with an environment enriched with readiness activities to help prepare them for their entry to more formal schooling. Our integrated curriculum will be presented using a learning center approach. Teachers facilitate learning through the use of concrete activities and projects based upon the developmental needs and interests of the children. Concepts related to the areas of writing, reading spelling, math, social studies, science, art, music, health, and physical activity will be included in the curriculum.

Children will be allowed to progress at their own pace and developmental level. Teachers will work with each child to encourage a life-long love of learning and sense of competence, which may be carried with them throughout their educational careers.
